Get The London Look?

I like my fashion, I do. Anyone who knows me will tell you that. But as much as I love my fashion, I won’t be led into wearing ridiculous things just because lots of other people are doing this. I just don’t see the point of it. In my opinion that really is the blind leading the blind…

London has a lot to say for itself in terms of influencing the world of fashion, as I am sure many people reading this will wholeheartedly agree! While some London-based fashions are acceptable, and things which have influenced me in the past, many of them are frankly ridiculous. The sooner a lot of people realise that then the better if you ask me!

The hair swept on one side. The look of being busy, but also being cool and fun and oh so self aware

All you have to do to witness this close-up is stand at the train station as the train from London arrives, no matter which city you live in. Off will step a LOT of people, all looking as if they’re returning from the set of some science-fiction film where everyone has to look exactly the same. The tight jeans. The quirky colour combinations. The hair swept on one side. The look of being busy, but also being cool and fun and oh so self aware. It is this attitude which I despise. And almost as bad as that are the people who ride around on fixed-gear racing bikes – people who, if you told them to put their head in an oven, would do so in an instant.

OK, this has turned into a bit of a rant. I’m sorry about that, but it’s just how I feel! I don’t want to get anyone’s back up – a bit too late for that me thinks – but I just wanted to point this out.

After all, what is wrong with a classic designer suit from the 1920s or some good old-fashioned casual attire? It might not be on the cutting-edge of what is new and hip, but in my book that’s cause for celebration, not to be looked down upon.

Who knows how long this let’s-all-follow-the-London-look will last? It may last a few years or it may last a few more months. Whatever the case, you can guarantee that it’ll be followed by a new fashion that just comes out of nowhere. Such is life as a human being, I suppose.

And, much as I am a major ranter these days, I guess I wouldn’t want it any other way!
